What Software Interviews measures when you visit, and the choices you have.

Last updated: 1 November 2026

Software Interviews is a free website. You do not need an account to use it, and we do not ask for your name, email address or phone number.

What we measure

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used and to improve it. It records things like the pages you visit, your device type, your approximate location and how you reached the site, and it uses cookies. How Google uses data.

We also send Google Analytics a few actions you take on the site:

  • the words you type into the site search, how many results they found and which result you choose
  • when you copy a code block, including its programming language and the part of the page it came from
  • when you switch a code sample to another programming language, your preferred language and your light or dark theme
  • when you filter a question list by difficulty, or use the share buttons or the mobile menu
  • the links you click on the site, and the links you follow to other websites
  • how far you scroll down a page, which headings you reach and how long you spend reading
  • that you have moved a mouse, touched the screen or pressed a key (not where or what), which helps us tell people from automated traffic
  • how quickly the page loaded and responded, any script errors, and the addresses of pages that could not be found

Please do not type personal details into the search box. If a search looks like it contains an email address, we do not send it.

What stays on your device

Your browser saves your light or dark theme and your preferred programming language, so the site remembers them on your next visit. These settings are not sent to our servers.

Other services

Loading a page also contacts these services, which can see your IP address and browser details:

  • Google Fonts, for the site’s fonts
  • jsDelivr, for the code that powers the site search

Links to other websites, including the share links for X and Reddit, are covered by those websites’ own policies.

Your choices

  • Block or clear cookies and site data in your browser settings. The site still works.
  • Use Google’s opt-out add-on to stop Google Analytics.
